VRC, or Vertical Redundancy Check, is an error detection technique used in computer networks. It involves adding a parity bit to a group of bits being transmitted. The parity bit is chosen so that the total number of 1s in the group, including the parity bit, becomes either even or odd. This allows the receiver to check for errors by recalculating the parity bit based on the received data and comparing it to the received parity bit. If they match, it suggests that the transmission is error-free.
